The goal of Remote Projects on JustServe is to provide service opportunities for individuals who are unable to serve outside their homes, for health reasons or other circumstances. Remote Projects should provide meaningful ways to contribute using the volunteer’s time and talents. Remote Projects should be national in scope. Only Area JustServe specialists can create remote projects.
Note: Remote Projects should not be used to advertise projects whose sole focus is paying for items online.
Good Fit |
Not a Fit |
| Transcribe Records: Volunteers use their personal computers to transcribe historical records. Good Fit Because: Volunteers who are home-bound or for other reasons are unable to volunteer in person can contribute their time and talents to making historical records searchable. |
Online Wish List: Individuals select items in an online wish list to benefit individuals or organizations. Not A Fit Because: Does not provide volunteers an opportunity to give of their time and talents. It is not national in scope or focus and is nearly the same as soliciting cash donations. |
| Tutor Students Remotely: Volunteers can sign up to tutor students remotely. The organization serves students nationally. Good Fit Because: Remote volunteers use their time and talents to serve students in need. |
Cards/Letters for Local Senior Center: Volunteers create greeting cards, letters, etc., and mail or drop them off at a specific senior center. Not A Fit Because: Is locally focused and will be more meaningful for volunteers in the local community. |
| Assist Persons Who Are Blind: Volunteers use technology to assist persons who are blind to solve tasks and live independently. The technology is available nationally. Good Fit Because: Sighted volunteers use their time and sight to assist persons who are blind. |
Digital Content Creator: A local organization needs volunteers to create digital content such as social media posts, electronic newsletters, advertisements, etc. The work can be done from home. Not A Fit Because: Is focused on a local organization’s staffing needs. It is more of a local job posting than a volunteer opportunity. |
