Service Activity Guide: Birthday Celebrations

Help someone feel celebrated and remembered on their special day! 

In a world where so many milestones go unnoticed, birthdays can be an opportunity to spread joy and remind others that they matter. By making cards or decorations, assembling birthday boxes, baking cakes, or hosting celebrations, you can create a ripple effect of kindness to ensure that someone feels valued and remembered on their special day, something many take for granted.

1. The Birthday Party Project
   • Purpose: Monthly birthday parties at homeless and transitional living facilities across the U.S., serving children experiencing homelessness.
   • Project Ideas:
     • Decorate and mail birthday cards. 
     • Record a virtual birthday wish. 
     • Collect small items and assemble favor bags

2. The Confetti Foundation
   • Purpose: Delivers birthday party kits to children spending their birthdays in hospitals, pediatric oncology clinics, or hospice care. Serving Children with extended hospital stays.
   • Project Ideas:
     • Make birthday banners or cards and mail to the organization.

3. Local Food Pantry
   • Purpose: Many food pantries accept “birthday boxes” with cake supplies, paper goods, and decorations for families facing food insecurity

     • Create and decorate birthday boxes

4. Cakes for Kids
   • Purpose: Delivers cakes to youth who are at-risk or underserved.

     • Host a bake sale with your club

5. The Salvation Army
   • Purpose: Help those in need celebrate birthdays with their children or loved ones by making kits to donate.

6. Local Assisted Living Home
   • Purpose: Help brighten birthdays for residents who may not have family nearby. They serve senior citizens and individuals needing extra daily support.
   • Club Project Ideas: 
   • Make cards and posters. 
   • Deliver them to decorate a resident’s room and help them feel remembered.

Birthday Cake Box

• 9×13 disposable aluminum foil pan – Get the ones with the lids. It packages it all up neatly. 
• Birthday Candles.. A box of cake mix, any flavor you like. 
• A can of Sprite or other lemon lime soda 
• Add a note: “Use soda in cake mix as a simple substitute for eggs, oil, and water. Combine one box of cake mix with one 12-ounce can of soda.
