In coordination with the local city parks department, trash clean ups, trail maintenance, and bench painting can all be great activities for the whole family to participate in. The parks department may have other ideas as well.
Schools and nonprofit organizations may also have beautification projects that are a good fit for large groups.

Some ideas include: a book drive, food bank drive, and refugee welcome kits.
Kit Packing
A variety of local organizations will have opportunities for packing kits. This may include: local refugee organizations, food banks, schools, and education-focused nonprofits.
Here’s an example of a donation drive combined with a kit packing service project: “Snack Bag Soiree”
As a small group, volunteers can make treats together and then share them with others: a local shelter, fire station, or elderly neighbors.

Note-Writing
A number of local and national organizations request notes on behalf of a variety of groups, including youth in foster care, seniors, and members of the military.

Tying blankets can be a great opportunity to serve the community and build social bonds between volunteers.
